Inspiration for my Background Project
I did some research and i found on google images that have inspired me for my background layouts. I was looking at 18th century buildings for my line drawing layout because my pirate story is set in the 18th century and these buildings are the main part in my layout. For my interior background it is going to be inside a pirate cabin. Lastly my exterior background is going to be the pirate ship caught up in the waves but the waves are wrapping around the ship like octopus tenticles to make surrealistic. My interior and exterior backgrounds are going to be done in watercolour.

Photographs for my 3d project
Here are some photographs that i have taken for my 3d project which is, to take a photograph and take it in to maya and create a 3d model out of it. The task was to take photographs of something that had interesting textures. Maya wont be the only software i will be using i will also using mudbox, a 3d software that can add smoothness and texture to your model. Also i might be possibly using Photoshop aswell.

Group project ideas
These are my design ideas for our group project of our two characters and sea ideas of how we could to the waves in our animation and how the waves can get caught up in a rip current around our fit guy, who gets caught up in the current.
After todays meeting with my group and looking at everyone's designs we have taken parts of everyone's designs in the characters and from mine we are going to use the scale of proportion. This is to exaggerate their features to make them interesting and stand out in the animation. The next step is i am going to water colour studies of the developed characters and layouts we are going to use in the animation.
Adaption Layout
This is a rough layout of my 2d background that i am currently doing on ToonBoom and then using some parts of the background for me to animate, such as i am going to make the fire move and have hopefully a glow effect on the fire aswell. I am going to make the sky haze across the mountains to show movement in the sky and finally make the stars twinkle. This rough drawing of my layout has been put into Photoshop in seperate layers and then coloured. Then placed into toonboom to create a camera view and then to be animated.
This design was taken from a children's book called 'Oscar and Arabella,' which is about two mammoths that go on a journey and discover a cave which has something lurking inside. When picking out this book it reminds of the animated film 'Ice Age,' because of its characters and setting.

Background design ideas for background project
These are design ideas for my background project. From these designs i have tried to go for a surreal route and taken inspiration from Salvador Dali the way he makes his seem they have melted and look different to what they are originally. For this project we have take our storyboard designs from previous term, which mine was the pirate story and combine it with this background project.
Another background design this time showing depth to create a 3d view of my drawing, using just pencil. This is to show different layers in the design. This design is taken from my pirate storyboard, where huge waves go over board the ship.

Experimental Animation
This is my final experimental animation, overall i am pleased with it and works well with piece of music i had chosen for it. The style of the animation reminds me of a mosaic painting the way the paper is cut out in tiny pieces to create different shapes. For this project i created a production report to show the progress of my animation.
