Bradford Animation Festival

In November last year i went to an animation festival in Bradford. This festival held animation and games screenings, workshops and talks with the industry. It also included some of student work from different Universities.

I found this trip enjoyable and interesting, particularly when listening to animation industry on how they developed film and how they thought of characters. For instance when i heard the talk on Aardman he showed us how the process of the film developed from going from a design to making the model of the character. This Aardman talk was on the film "Pirates and the adventure with scientists," and the guy showed us the model of the pirate captain and other accessories the model like many different mouth pieces. This is for the mouth to move and lip synch so that the character can talk in the animation.

I also found interesting the character design workshop where a man called Curtis Jobling who worked on Raa Raa the lion and Bob the Builder went through character design and different techniques you can use. The techniques were like you can create a character by drawings shapes because the simpler the design the more recognisable it is and stands out.

At the festival i watched many screenings "Pirates and the adventure with scientists, Brave, Paranorman and other animations, which i enjoyed.

Waltz with Bashir

 

Waltz with Bashir an Israeli animated film that was made in 2008, is about a soldier who meets his friend from the army who tells him what happened during his time in the Lebanon War. Lost and confused he tries to revive his memories. The film concludes by showing the aftermath of the massacre.
This film is very informative and a film where some people can relate too because the content of this film happens in everyday real life. 



Our group cinematography film

  This film was created by myself, sammy, ellie, vicky, olivia, eline and kim. The film is a spy/comedy film. If i was do this film again i would most likely change the location because we had problems with the location as in with lightening and people. I thought the actors did well to explain what was happening in the film. i would also add music in the background to create atmosphere. For this film as a group we wanted to create suspense and atmosphere for example the music in Pink Pather creates a sense of mood and atmosphere.
