The Bird, Distance and website portfolio

The Bird update: At the moment we are focusing on quality shots and do as much as we can but after talking with people we have seen that we can take shortcuts with a few things. So i have been colouring in shots to finishing them off. For backgrounds i made some tweaks to them by recieving advice on colour and tone so everything seems easy on the eye. I also key outlined using Eline's storyboard reference the bird dream sequence.

Distance update:I have made the huge rocks as a set prop that stays in some scenes of the film and occasionally help out in the set up of the shots. 

Website/portfolio update: At the moment the stage of the website is that i am making more props and put in pages and starting the show reel process. Also talking about the university projects i have been involved in, and how i made each prop. Then finally adding in contact details and cv as well as a link to my blog to show my work in stages of production.

In this last week

So for The Bird i have been colouring in more animation shots and then placing them into the animatic to edit. Also more backgrounds are being done, and also me and vicky and the tutors have been discussing that maybe we should cut a few scenes or loose some characters in the england scenes and focus more on Africa, to speed up the animation process, but the tutors have left it to our decision. 

Also for Distance i have been making more big rocks to be used in more scenes for the set.

Today i have been making more props just to build my portfolio for the website i am making which i am also cleaning up and colouring in some concept art for my website aswell. These pictures below are just working progress they will painted.

Distance

These last few days i have been working on making the gigantic rock for the set, as a set prop. The rock will be used in the polar bear scene and may be a few others. The rock will need a few layers of the acrylic ink to cover the foam. The rock has been carved into two layers to create 3d space.

Rocks for Distance

Rocks i made for Distance, the materials i used were foam that you get out of sleeping mats. Then to get the rock shape i carved into using a craft knife to create depth to get a sense of a 3D sculpture. Then to paint them i used acrylic inks keeping with the blue theme. I did the rocks in different shapes and sizes to create an environment for the set.

Todays work for the 3rd yr projects

Today i have been work on building my own website starting a slide show show reel of my props and soon will be concept art as well. I will also include a gallery of stills, which for the props will have a description on how they were made and what were they used for. Also include my cv and contact details and a link to my blog of the work in progress and that ive done throughout my three years at University. This website may also include a video of my prop work and concept art with music behind it as well as stuff i'm pleased with.

In this last week for The Bird i have been colouring in more shots as well as help edit and update the animatic so we can put more shots that we have done, and for Distance i have been making rocks by carving the shape with a a craft knife. Then once i had the shape i then painted them using the acrylic inks using only two shades but still keeping with the blue theme.

When it came to carving i tried to create different layers to get a sense of depth to make the rocks seem more of a 3D sculpture.

The corridor scene we i going to have the lighting the same as the before shot ive just coloured the character in this picture.
