This year i chose to do pre-production rather the post. The first thing we had to do was to form a group and for me i was working with sammy, vicky and eline. For this project we had to come up with a story involving cards that involved a phrase, a genre and a person. For our group we got 'spill the beans' for our phrase. The genre was 'soap' and the person was 'Beryl Markham.'
So first of all we researched and found out that 'Beryl Markham,' was a rebellious woman from the Victorian era, who was caught up with drugs and affairs and was the first to fly across the atlantic. Beryl spent most of her childhood in Africa and loved the african lifestyle of hunting and being part of the natives. So she was surely disappointed when she had to move to england because her mother disliked Africa. So our next plan was to come up with idea in brainstorming session with the rest of my group and be ready to pitch to the tutors and rest of the class.
Our idea was about a girl born in Africa with English parents who are protective and controlling over Beryl. Then one day her parents decide that the family should move back to England, taking Beryl away from the lifestyle she had in Africa that she truly loved. When Beryl realises that she doesnt fit into the English lifestyle she decides to return to her homeland of Africa. To do this she needs to learn how to fly. So she sets off on her mission to try and discover the secrets of flying from the birds more specfic from the fastest bird the Gannet. To do this she catches the birds to get to the Gannet but when she reaches to the Gannet he said it was impossible for her to fly unless she had wings. Distraught as she was the Gannet symphasises with her and gathers up the birds of England so they can take her back to Africa, where she can be herself again.
To make this story come to life we made a storyboard by drawing a section each to then later form an animatic, which sammy made on Premiere with the help of the rest of us giving her sound effects to help the story.
This animatic is what you see below on my blog:
Have a look, hope you enjoy!
